Having a bit of a problem with my first job...

So I decide to go on this expedition our school is running, and it involves saving up quite a large amount of money, so I started looking for a job and managed to find one at the local McDonalds, submitted application, went for interview, and was told I had got it.

I've been working there for about 3 weeks, and I really don't enjoy it, I know I was never going to, but this is different. The manager is extremely moody, always shouting at you, and there is a large amount of stress and pressure. As soon as I get home after a shift I just start to get worried and I find myself worrying about the next shift, even if it is 5-7 days away.

I know jobs are becoming increasingly rare, and I'm lucky to have it, but I am starting to wonder if it is worth it, and give up and hope I'll find something else.

Anyone got any advice?

I don't talk to many people when I'm there, I just kinda keep to myself, and think that annoys the manager as well, as I need to be louder when I have to shout over when some fussy person doesn't want lettuce or cheese or whatever lol :D

You sound to me like you want to take the easy route out and wanted people on here to back you up.

That's not it at all, it's my first job, I'm 16 and I was just looking for advice from people as most of the comments you get here are really supportive and are helpful and I don't really know who to talk to or ask about it.

Regarding the manager, at first she was like don't worry about it and enojy it, and then she is shouting at me and telling me all the stuff I am doing wrong, and I don't think she realises that I am trying my best at it.

I get £4.35/hr which i think is a bit over the minimum wage, (it's a World Challenge Expedition, incase any of you have been on one!) though at £4.35 I'd need to put in a lot of hours to make any serious dent in the amount needed

You're better off clubbing together with other World Challenge participants and do some bigger fund-raising activities - I'm sure that's what the kids at my school did :)

Yeah we've got loads of activites lined up, but most of that is to raise money for the "Project" we will do out on our expedition

Stick at it, you don't want to give up and then find there are no jobs elsewhere.

Yeah that's the worry, ideally I'd like a job in PC World or some computer shop, I think I would enjoy that! I don't suppose it is worth offering anything in my local post office?

I'm really into computing and I've been building and upgrading my computer, is there any type of service I could post up in a local shop or someplace?
