First/last console you bought and why

first one i bought with my own money was a PS1 and the last was a PS4 on launch day but my parents bought my sister and i a Commodore 64

First console I bought was a PS1. I'd always had computers at home, but I couldn't afford one when I got to uni, and my step father had reneged on our agreement to buy me a PC if I did a proper degree.

Last one was a PS4, after many years with Xboxes. It was cheaper, more powerful, and frankly most of my friends are Sony fanboys so it means I'll have more people to play games with in the long term.

First console was a Master System II, my mum bought it for me because I wanted one.
Last console was a Playstation 4, because next gen games. :o

First console i bought for myself was the Playstation. I remember going to look for one right around launch day and managing to find one that wasn't pre ordered (think it was in Comet).

First console that i actually owned was, much like a lot of other peeps, the Master System (model 1). I remember as a kid, one day during the summer holiday, hanging out with a couple of friends from school, skateboarding lol, and they were talking about some game one of them owned ( a kid we knew but didn't normally hang around with). Turned out to be Double Dragon on the Master system. He asked us around to his so he could show me as i at this point i had never even heard about the Master System. The first time he switched it on just blew me away. I was like " No ******* load time WTF?"
Bearing in mind up until this point i had owned a Commodore +4 and a Spectrum +2. Then the game started. Once again "WTF colour graphics AND decent fx and music?" Really cant express just how blown away i was. Needless to say, much begging later i got my own Master System.

The last system i bought was the Wii U. Bought it because i thought the gamepad was a novel and interesting idea. Also fancied playing some Mario + Zelda games and with it being backwards compatible means i can play some of the Wii games i missed out on as i never owned a Wii.

n.b No doubt i will be getting a PS4 at some point down the road. Waiting to see if a slim model comes out though. Plus by then there should be a good back catalogue of games.

first was a Megadrive. At the time I had an Amiga but more and more Megadrive games caught my eye and I used to play on many Sega arcade machines and the MD had the better home versions.

Last was another PS3 only the other week. My old PS3 died and I couldn't decide whether to replace it or just cut my losses and get a PS4. In the end, I went with the PS3 again because I have PS+ and a large list of games on there.

My first gaming was on the family Atari, and whatever else was around in those days.
My first console was the Sega Master System, but this was bought by my parents.
The first console I bought with my own money was a PS2, because it had the games I wanted.
The last console I bought was the Xbox One, because I love the XBox brand, the games they have, and Xbox One offered what I wanted in a console.

I had a Sega Master System but that was a birthday present, the first console I actually paid for myself after much saving was a Sega Megadrive with Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage, the jump from the Master System was amazing,

The last console I bought was the PS4, have really enjoyed the past 5 or so years of gaming on my PS3 so was pretty much a foregone conclusion I would get a PS4.

First was, vita then wii u and most recently a ps3.

I have always primarily played games on amiga and then pc. I think going back to my yute it was probably easier to persuade my parents to buy a decent pc ("good for homework"). I don't think we ever actually asked for a console though, so the restriction was perhaps more in our minds!
Despite moving out about 15years ago, and having had plenty of disposable income, I never even considered buying a console - old habits die hard!
Having said that I am married, which obviously creates a new financial gates to run frivolous purchases past. I think it would have been hard to justify buying a launch price ps3 vs saving for a house. The practical non-gaming utility of pc's works with my wife almost as well as it did with my parents though!

Never bought a console.
Was given a NES for Christmas, around the time the N64 was considered old.
Bought a GameBoy Pocket on staff discount... right before the Colour and subsequent better versions all came out.
Gave up and became PC Master Race from then on!

First Owned: Sega Mega Drive
First Bought: Playstation 2
Last Bought: Playstation 4

I had an Amstrad CPC464 also but this was after the Mega Drive and I think my dad rescued it or bought it cheap.

First console: Xbox 360

Simply because I had money at the time :)

Last Console: Xbox one

Because I wanted to try the new Kinect.

First atari 2600 pressie for crimbo
Last xbone because thats the one that was in stock rather than ps4

First console I bought with my own money - original Xbox. Reason - because I'm awesome like that. Last console I bought - Wii U. Same reason.

The first console I actually bought was a PS1... first owned was a NES. Had Mega Drive, SNES, N64 all as gifts.

I've bought pretty much every console since the mid nineties.... bar the Saturn!

Latest console = Xbox One.

damn I feel old now .... lets see.........

first one I got was actually the Phillips cdi .....ahead of its time imo ......then went down the ps1 route

but the only console I had before that was the Vectrex ... didn't buy it myself
