First console i bought for myself was the Playstation. I remember going to look for one right around launch day and managing to find one that wasn't pre ordered (think it was in Comet).
First console that i actually owned was, much like a lot of other peeps, the Master System (model 1). I remember as a kid, one day during the summer holiday, hanging out with a couple of friends from school, skateboarding lol, and they were talking about some game one of them owned ( a kid we knew but didn't normally hang around with). Turned out to be Double Dragon on the Master system. He asked us around to his so he could show me as i at this point i had never even heard about the Master System. The first time he switched it on just blew me away. I was like " No ******* load time WTF?"
Bearing in mind up until this point i had owned a Commodore +4 and a Spectrum +2. Then the game started. Once again "WTF colour graphics AND decent fx and music?" Really cant express just how blown away i was. Needless to say, much begging later i got my own Master System.
The last system i bought was the Wii U. Bought it because i thought the gamepad was a novel and interesting idea. Also fancied playing some Mario + Zelda games and with it being backwards compatible means i can play some of the Wii games i missed out on as i never owned a Wii.
n.b No doubt i will be getting a PS4 at some point down the road. Waiting to see if a slim model comes out though. Plus by then there should be a good back catalogue of games.
