Well, I have a 2015 Focus (mk3.5) 1.5 TDI. And recently took the private plate off it ready to sell. BUT, took it into town a couple weeks ago, where the parking for the shopping centre is inside a LEZ zone.

Got back from a holiday today to find a PCN from the council for driving in the LEZ.

Now, the car is Euro6. And it was never a problem before on the private plate. It passed the Scottish LEZ checker. (I am in Scotland). However, the new (old) plate doesn't seem to pass the LEZ checker. Despite being the exact same car.

So I have put in a challenge, obviously. But just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this?

I fully expect to have my challenge upheld. But given the LEZ zones are little more than a council cash grab, there is a small part of me thinking they will just ignore the facts, rely on the incorrect LEZ checker, and uphold the fine.

This happened to me in the Birmingham CAZ. I had changed my plate a few weeks before. You need to request a certificate of conformity from the vehicle manufacturer and ask the DVLA to reinstate the Euro 6 record for your car. The money-grabbing local authority will almost certainly reject your challenge which is good as you need that done to submit an appeal to the tribunal. As the car complies the appeals tribunal will scrub the PCN (plus, you need a code given out by the rejection to appeal).

OK. Good to know the process. And that it works. It does say Euro6 on the newly issued V5C from DVLA though, so you would think DVLA already have the information, ha ha.

Mine said Euro 6 too. The Local Auth don’t go by your V5 they go by the gov vehicle checker.
