Oh dear....

Sauce

- installed tail 6 - PIN and 8 - PIN power connector, the official minimum recommended system power demand of 580 W (+12 V power A request for 40).

- support PCI-Express 2.0, DX10 and SM4.0, OpenGL 2.1, PureVideo HD ,128-bit HDR, 16X AA, as well as built-in HDCP HybridPower energy saving technology, at this stage, whether they have updated VP3 or maintain existing VP2 technology is still uncertain, but we can not yet confirm DX10.1 and SM4.1 support for a new generation of imaging technology, the loss is expected to be a major marketing campaign, at the same time opponents will be part of this attack.

- leading GeForce 8800Ultra effectiveness of the game can be as high as 30 to 50 per cent

- GeForce 9800GX2 estimated price of 449 US dollars, time for the launch of their products on February 14, slightly late ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 the January 28

...Ive made a mess.

equipped with a dual-DVI HDMI video and S / PDIF audio output holes

:D You can wack one in your HTPC for a media player and a seriously powerfull gaming rig.

Estimated $450 USD... £300-£350 then.

Hopefully £300... and its release is close enough to the 3870X2 to see how they fair againt each other.

If its much more than 300 quid your probably better off buying 2x 8800GT or 2x 8800GTS...

It'll fit in my case with room to spare :D

i want 2 :D shame they dont have 2 sli connectors for tri-sli, would have been good to have 3 of these in SLI, 6x sli total :D

Could this be the gfx card to bring Crysis to its knees?

Nope, how long was it before farcry was playable at 1920x1200 with everything turned on with loads of fsaa? Few years after its release at least. I doubt that a game release in novemeber that cripples current hardware is suddenly gonna fly at 60fps a few months later.

think ill wait for the proper 9800gtx, personally i think nvidia should scrap sli and theese silly gx cards, ive used sli twice (6800gt/7900gt) you only see a return @1920x1200 and above

Totally agree with you in regards to SLI & Crossfire money wasting crap, graphics cards lose value at a ridiculous rate when new versions come out, it's madness buying 2 as you have twice as much loss depreciation - just look at the value of the 8800GTX now compared to last year - around £140 @ full price value gone already & expect it to be more once these are released probally - 2nd hand sales are going to suck as it is with one. LOL!

I wish they would bring out top-end motherboards with just 1 PCI-E lane for the graphics card for people that will never make use of crossfire/sli.

My next card will be 1 x 9800GTX whenever it comes out, unless ATI perform a miracle & bring something out just as good. . . . I'm not counting on it.

I have to say I am very disappionted with this, I was expecting a full proper 9800gtx not some half baked sandwich debacle like this!

I have a single 8800gt at the moment and my expereince in SLI with it was less than I was expecting.

So essentially this card is basically nothing more than a SLI 8800GTS or GT?

ill wait, my 8800gt will do me for a while yet and its only when i play alan wake ill decide weather a new card is needed.
i only game at 1280x1024 at the moment and i cant really afford to bump the rest of my system to meet higher resolutions so im happy at that for now and hopefully it will keep my oc'd GT happy for a while to. If things get to drastic ill just have to start volt modding :D

I think you will be disappointed by a 9800GTX as won't be truely next gen.... it will be based on the 8800 die shrink. the 9800X2 reportedly has a 30% increase over an 8800Ultra.

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed, especially those who were anticipating a true next gen video card to go with their Penryn system when the cheaper quads become available in a month or two.

No cheaper Quads.

Q9300 is the same price as the Q6600, all the other Quads cored Penryns coming out are more expensive.

Perhaps I should have worded it different, I meant the quad Penryns cheaper than the currently available QX9650.

Yes you should have. :p

Any way back on subject, its going to be very interesting for ATI I think now because of this card as they are going to have to bring out this 3870X2 at a very competative price.

Cool, it looks like it has a heatsink in the middle cooling both cards equally... That's neat.

But 40a on the 12v rail to get the bitch up and running? Hell no.

I'm noticing the card only just sticks off the edge of an ATX mainboard so it shouldn't be too tight a squeeze. Personally I find the cooling solution more interesting than the actual card, though...

I reckon they'll just change the $ for a £ on the UK price to be honest, it's the first flagship release for a while so they're going to make people pay the premium... and they will at that too.

Spec wise it looks pretty good, but I just don't see the point in half of the features. Why put optical out on there? Most people spending that sorta money on a card probably have it on their board or their expensive sound card already. Why put HDMI on there? Granted some flat panels have HDMI in, but the vast majority are still DVI. Also, do NVidia really think that many people are going to buy them for media PC use? Do they even fit in most media centre cases? I'm pretty sure that won't fit in my Antec Fusion (let alone run on the PSU lol).

Have to go with the majority here, really don't see any need to upgrade to this for the small gain. NVidia are sitting something big, but they're only throwing the market scraps for now because there's no competition to justify a market shaking release.
