Hello! This is my first post, so hello to all out there!
I've been out of the computers loop for a while so have decided to jump back in at the deep end - I'm planning my first NAS build and need some advice on the drive and raid set ups.
This is primerily to store my files where I cam easily share them around my house (its only for a home network) and possibly access them while I'm away from home over the internet (that may be an extra project for after the thing is up and running!)
I plan to get two 2 or 3TB drives to start off then add in a second pair later as and when I can afford it.
I think from what I've read, starting with two dives which leaves me the option of raid 0 or 1, is that right?
So raid 1 would be the beat option as that would mirror the data so offer some. redundantcy. Simple terms I know but in a nut shell is that right?
How easy would it be to add a second pair of drives at a later date. My first thoughts would be to end up with two pairs to allow some form of back up as well.
So, have I got completely mad and all I've said above is complete peanuts or am I atleast thinking in a direction that might work?
Finally, appologies for any spelling mistakes, typos or anything else- I'm working on my phone which I hate doing for this sort of thing!
