First New Build in 15 years...

Hello,

Last time I built a PC life/work got in the way and it ended up getting put into storage months after I built it as I worked away/abroad etc... now, emptying storage into new house.... I have a brand new... 15 year old PC.

Decided it was time to stop living with laptop and get back into Desktop computing.

Will document my build here - bits should be arriving over weekend/into early next week.

Not sure what I can do with old PC as assume windows 11 wont touch it so not much use to anyone... might make it my linux machine or some form of ESXI box.

Looking forward to doing the build though...been awhile.

Just noticed the spec of my old but new pc is in my signature above. Annoys me that I built this at the time, never really got a use out of it and now its likely not much use for Windows 11.

It is exceedingly and increasingly difficult to recommend components to people that give limited to no information, those helping often do so as a hobby within their free time. To alleviate growing frustrations I feel having a base-line and template goes a long way, I am requesting that people...

Edit: I see you've already ordered the parts, my apologies. I hope that they're up to your expectations!

If gaming is your preference/goal you could have got a lot more for the money.

It can run Windows 10 and Windows 11 with hacks, but I'm afraid you're mainly looking at Retro gaming there.
