Hay guys my try at overclocking a cpu and this what i did so far

FSB from 200 to 240

cpu clock Multiplier x10

Memory multiplier from auto to 2.0

system voltage control (manual) was on auto but temps went to 60c

and turn off the other stuff like CIA2

This what i got so far

spec are

Dual core 2180 stock cooler

x2 1 gig OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 / 800MHz / ATI CrossFire™ Certified Edition / Dual Channel

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-p31-ds3l

Case is mozart TX

I don't know if i am doing some thing wrong as i never done this before bin getting help from another forum so all that stuff i did is not on my own by any means lol :D

What temps do you get at stock with the same test?

It might be fine and just the stock cooler and the airflow inside your case.

Ok i did the same test i set the FBS back to 200

Bit lower but nothing major :(

I don't get it i have mozart tx case should be good cooling going on

I did sort mod another fan above the cpu pushing air up maybe that fan messing up the air flow ?

Thanks

have you the volts running at 1.325? Do they need to be that high?

I had my E6400 running auto with 1.325 and dropped the voltages down to 1.2 and shaved 10°C off my temps. (You'd need to check with intel if this can be done with your CPU though?

Yeah i know but thats the normal setting it was on i not change that at all yet so not sure.

yeah I will start looking for the info about that

Thanks

They're ok considering it's stock cooler, your case temp aint best and I guess you didnt use MX-2 there either. And dont believe in what some say that those chips will hit 3.2ghz on stock cooling, yeh, maybe they will but not with any kind if safe temps ;). Or if you got very lucky and that 1 per 10 000 best chip. The truth is simple - you wanna OC high - get good cooling.

Now there is room for improvement:
TRUE -10c
MX-2 4-8c
better airflow/case temp -5c

;)

Yeah i will get better cooler soon as :D

Just thinking if the volts need to be that high as jas72 already said ?

Also would worth taking off the cooler and putting bk to make sure its on ok ? i don't have any thermal paste but the cpu only few days old ?

Cheers

Buy some thermal paste and a new cooler. then you'll obviously get to reseat the new cooler and should help :)

56ºC at full load not that hight tbh. These chips are safe up to 73ºC according to intel so as long as ** under this keep going. Use CPUz to see your actual vcore.

Cpuz says core voltage at 1.312V

I try and up the fbs past 240 see what temps go like

I just got a feeling maybe the heatsink not on right :(
