Hi - first OC wanted some quick advice

got a Q6600 arriving in a few days, wanted to try out on my current build to learn for the real thing.....

running Abit IP35-E, DualCore E2180@2ghz, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

my starting multiplier is 10

is my best bet to just increase the cpu speed by 10 incrementally and see how I go? When should I think about lowering the multipler? I don't want to start messing around with voltage tbh. I've read that the E2180 can hit 3ghz if cooled properly - I'd be happy with a nice and easy 2.5.

also - stupid question probably - I downloaded Everest Ultimate edition and can't see any temps although I read that it would display them? Also - is prime95 best stress test? my winzip's run out so struggling to extract - any alternatives or free winzip alternatives?

any advice appreciated!

in everyday use around the low 60's shud be ur limit but when stressing ur q6600 for stability with intel burn test the low 70's is ok
