First Off Camera Flash Critique?

Hi guys,

I recently bought myself a light stand and an umbrella to try some off camera portraits. Any chance you could give me some pointers? I took a lot of shots and moved the umbrella around until I got the least amount of shadows which seemed to work - luckily my girlfriend is quite patient

have you done specific pp work on the eyes? I can't seem to look away from them in any of the colour photos, they seem almost unreal.

i brightened them a bit and brought up the blue channel a touch overall - nothing major though.
