Hi everyone.

So, after a few teething problems with a faulty Antec power supply I have finally got my new build up, running and have Windows 7 x64 installed with no problems. Heres the spec.

Gigabyte P67-UD4
I5 2500K
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti Twin FrozR II
OCZ Intel Extreme 8G 1600MHZ RAM
Crucial RealSSD C300 64G
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB
Corsair Hydro H50
Corsair HX 850W
Fractal Design Define R3
Four Fractal Design 120mm fans.

Now, obviously I want to get as much juice out of the CPU as I can, I've run prime95, CPU-Z and a few other tools and have got my I5 running around 31-34 degrees idle and 48-54 degrees under full load on a Corsair H50.

Is this cool enough for the I5 to reach 4.8 - 5GHZ? And if not, what would you suggest to get cooler temps? Re-seating the cooler? New thermal paste, or more fans, possibly in push/pull? Im running the H50 with the stock corsair fan pulling cold air in at the moment.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is my first full build from scratch and my first time overclocking. Thanks again!

54c max on stock is it?

You know your temps will rise when OCing. You know your TJ Max is 98c... you have plenty of breathing space. People seem scared to let their CPU hit above and beyond in regards to temps. Also note Prime95 stresses the CPU above and beyond any game or application that you would use day to day. My 4.6ghz hits 80c under prime95 on air cooling. But the same clock running GTA IV on max settings (very CPU intensive game) it only hits 65c after 2hours of gaming. Don't be afraid to hit 80c under load. It can handle it!

Thinking of pushing mine to 5ghz soon. Try 48x100 and go from there. 1.368v is fine also :) What ram do you have? Try and get 800mhz (DDR) and 2T

Yeah 54 max on stock.

And I have 2 kits of this RAM. 8G's in total.

"Try and get 800mhz (DDR) and 2T"...Sorry, but I dont understand this?

Also, could you reccomend any simplified guides online to get me started on the road to O/Cing? Thanks!

SB overclocking is easy, take a look here to get accustomed: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17612922

800mhz is double data. So it'll be 1600mhz (your stock speed) your ram won't be running at the stock speed at the moment, they never do. 2T is the command rate. I'd recommend overclocking with software tbh, there really is no bonus to doing it over the bios with sandy bridge. What motherboard have you got?
