Hi all

I have read your overclocking section and jumped in to have a go.

I have Asus p6td delux mobo, core i7 930, and corsair H50 cooler.

I have set my fsb at 159 and a multiplyer of 22 so i am running 3500 mhz

Voltage is set to auto and according to asus probe is at 1.25v.

I want to try and get to 4000mhz as so many people seam to do, BUT

After 1 hour of prime 95 my highest temps with core temp were

81c 80c 79c 76c (dont know why they are different?) and with asus probe was 86c.

With temps this high i dont think i could clock it more. what do yo think. have

i done somthing wrong or am i just unlucky with my CPU.

Any help or advic will be much appreciated

Thanks:)

first u should try doing it at the standard speed and see what the temps are like, then u'll have something to compare.

if the temps are still pretty high without an OC, then perhaps u need to look at your cooling.

I would look at taking your voltages off auto. Just because the Vcore is at 1.25 (supposedly) doesn't mean the others are runnnig riot.
Also, check that you have the extreeme profile areas of the bios set to standard (if it has any) you don't want the bios trying to auto-overclock on top of yours!
Lastly, those temps really do seem too high! Make sure that the H50 is seated properly and that the fan on the rad is running in a pull config and the airflow in the case isn't blocked.

No overclock temps were mid 30s at idle and max 65 under prime full load. Which dont seam to bad to me?

Those aren't bad. But for an H50 I wouldn't say they were good. (although I've never used one) I used to have a Zalman CNPS 9900 which ran my i7 920 @stock. ~25'C idle rising to mid 50's under load. I think the H50 is supposed to be a better cooler than the CNPS. Check it is seated properly and check the TIM.

I just used the paste that was already on the H50 cooler do you think this could make a significant differance.

I have been reading the H50 thread and might change my fan config to a push pull

I would be interested in what you guys have to say about the fans setup on the H50. Ive currently got two fans on the rad drawing air in from the back.
