Asus P5B-E Plus Motherboard
2Gig Geil Ultra 6400 (800Mhz) RAM
Zalman CNPS7700-ALCU Cooler
Antec 900 Case (fans on medium)

I've been following this guide.

Have set the RAM timings, gone for a 1:1 ratio and overclocked to a FSB of 300 (2.7Ghz). After running Orthos for...37 mins my temps are between 64 and 67 on both cores. Which seems like quite a bit. :(

Normally the chip runs around 35-37, and around 57-58 under heavy load. I guess I shouldn't really be surprised that I can't push it much higher, but what do you think is holding me back? Is that just a crap cooler, or might I have messed up the installation somehow?

Your temps are very high. My E6600 idles at 28 degrees and boots at about 19-22 degrees! Under heavy orthos blend stress it maxes out at 60 degrees @ 3.5Ghz.

I would reseat the cooler and see what happens.
