Hi everyone, so i decided to try and overclock my Cpu, just built this new rig a few weeks ago. just want you to check my temps and settings please

Here is my system

i5 2500 k
MSI P67 A GD65 (mobo)
Ripjaw X 4 GB, 1600 Mgz Ram
Akasa Venom Cpu Cooler
Corsair HX 650 W PSU

Ok guys please bear with me as this is my first overclock on my first ever PC build.

So all i did was go into the BIOS and change the multiplier form x 33 to x 42 for this overclock. I have not changed anything else and have not updated the BIOS.

I an Prime-95 for one hour and here are my temps

Low High

Core#0 28c 51c
Core#1 27c 54c
Core#2 31c 59c
Core#3 29c 56c

Are they ok ?

Just wanted your guys advice on the temps and if i should change any other settings ?

Also guys Cpu-z is showing a core speed of 4191.2 Mhz should it not be 4200 ?
and coretemp is only showing standard frequency of 3292.68 MHz no Overclock ?

Thanks guys

Temps look ok. CPUZ speed is right, ignore coretemp as it will just pull the speed from the chip's ID.

4191.2Mhz is pretty much 4.2Ghz, but just check that the BCLK is at 100 in your bios. As long as it is then thats fine.

Thanks for the quck reply AndyH_lufc , i will check that now and report back.

Your BCLK is the 100 x part so your fine. If 4.2GHz is all you want then OC Genie takes you to that, not sure what all it changes as I have never used it myself.

Ok cool thanks for letting me know, just going to stay with the 4.2 GHz for now
as this is my first build and first Overclock.

Is there anything else i should do to make sure the overclock is ok and stable ?

I have same cpu and motherboard.

I used these settings for a 4.5GHz overclock and it has been faultless.
Save your current setting in an overclock profile should you wish to go back to them, but you should get 4.5ghz no problem.
