Overclocking questions

Recently bought the E2180, with a Gigabyte p35-ds3l, and the OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4.

I've never even looked at overclocking before, but, I've jumped in and attempted it.

I put the FSB to 280, multiplier 10, which I think means its at 2.8ghz and just left the voltage as the default - and it seems to work fine through this Orthos programme.

Next up I fiddled with the memory settings - for which the multiplier or whatever its called is set to 3. Which puts the memory at 840mhz. I also set the timings to 4-4-4-15 and the voltage to +0.2.

Oh and temperatures for CPU under load are 47, is this ok?

Am I right in thinking I should reduce the CPU multiplier and try to get a larger FSB, meaining the memory multiplier would be a lower number?

Thanks

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

I've only got it at 280x10, not 300... I haven't gone as far as 300 yet..

Can I reduce the timings for the memory then? I just put in what the description page said.

Is stock volts for the CPU just what the bios sets it to? I think its set to 1.325.

47 is the load temps, not idle, think it idles at around 27.

And fans are set to low (Antec 300 case), should I put them to medium/high?

I'm not planning on pushing this to the limit, just an amount that is high, but not going to cause me any problems whatsoever.

Any more insights on this? I don't really know what I'm doing, so any comments are appreciated.

Do I need to increase any of the other voltages? There's one called (G)MCH?

If I put more memory in - result being 4x1gb, do I need to change anything?

Wouldn't let me run at 300x10, so upped the voltage and got it working once voltage hit 1.4. CPU-Z says core voltage is 1.344 though???

Idles at 30, load at 52...

Think 3ghz will do me now, gonna start playing with the memory.

I put MCH to +0.1V as per the earlier message, do I need to put FSB voltage up at all?

Ok, had to put voltage up a bit more - 1.42 in BIOS, but CPU-Z says Core Voltage is 1.376, I don't understand this.

This is at 300 x 10, and the memory multiplier thing is at 3 or 2:3 - this makes the memory 900mhz. It's only 800mhz memory, is this a problem?

Also, I put the timings to 4-4-4-12.. is this ok too?

Running a blend test at the moment, seems ok so far though..
