Had a couple of days off work so have had my first overclock. :)

Have a E6400 (sitting under an Artic 7 Pro) on a Gigabyte PS35C DS3R board with 4gb GEil PC6400 memory, running Windows XP 32 bit.

Now I have gone from 2.13Ghz to 3Ghz by changing the FSB to 375mhz, and am very happy with the results.

Currently running Orthos and are getting stable temps of 68oc with Core Temp 0.97 and 50oc with Speedfan 4.33

Which temp reading should I belive in and where is the limit for the temps.

Thanks to any help.

Cheers

I'd think core temp is the most accurate. Is that on stock vcore? If yes then that's a very impressive oc and can definately go further. Temp is a bit high but then Orthos puts a lot more stress on cpu then you'll do in normal full load anyway so that's fine.

I have your CPU and cooler and the older 965P based DS3 and run at 3.2Ghz easy. Just set the FSB to 400, my ram multiplier to 2x with manually set stock timings and volts, and away I went. idles in the mid 40's, never really exceeds 60, maybe 65 max underload. My temps showed as the same in Intel TAT and Speedfan... so i trust them.

Thanks lads for your comments. Have now pushed onto 3.2Ghz and everything seems fine, volts are set at auto at the moment.

Thought I would put the benchmarks up.

3D Mark 2001

2.13Ghz (with 2gb of memory) – 31141
2.13Ghz (with 4gb of memory) – 31290
2.8Ghz (with 4gb of memory - 36945
3.00Ghz (with 4gb of memory – 37779
3.20Ghz (with 4gb of memory – 39489

Aquamark3

2.13Ghz (with 2gb of memory) – 113,580
2.13Ghz (with 4gb of memory) – 114,126
2.80Ghz(with 4gb of memory – 130,786
3.00Ghz (with 4gb of memory – 135,464
3.2Ghz (with 4gb of memory – 141,748

Best of all it has brought the video encoding time down from 16 minutes for 640mb (10:52 of video) to 11:05 minutes very close to a 1 to 1 ratio I was after.
