Hi guys,
just looking for some advice, i am looking to overclock my cpu for the first time as im doing more and more 3D work and i'd like better performance with the rendering times. I know i need to get another gig of RAM in the machine but money is tight, being a student so cant afford a new CPU.

Machine specs(taken from cpuz)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
MOBO: GigaByte 965P-S3
RAM: Memory type DDR2
Module format Regular UDIMM
Manufacturer (ID) GEIL (7F7F7F1300000000)
Size 512 MBytes //(X2)
Max bandwidth PC2-5300 (333 MHz)
PSU: Unsure at the mo but can be found if needed

EDIT: Full cpu txt is at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/l.beeny/cpuz.txt

I'm using the stock cooler atm but i expect that i will have to buy a better cooler to get better speeds.

Anyway i'm just wondering:
1. what speeds i could expect with this set up with the stock cooler
2. what speeds i could expect with a better cooler (and a recommendation of a good cheapish cooler) and
3. what RAM to add to the set up.

I hope this makes sense any questions please ask and any advise would be great.

Thanks for your time

Depending on what time period that E6400 was manufactured in it should do around 3.3ghz on decent cooling. With the stock cooler you're probably looking at 2.6ish.

As for RAM, what you've got looks slower than a snail in treacle, but thankfully OCUK are here to save the day....

This is a great cooler upgrade...had my E6300 at 3.3ghz under one of these...
