Hey guys,

I just built a new rig about a week ago and I overclocked the CPU for the first time and was wondering if anyone can just check the settings and see if things look ok.

I overclocked from 3.4Ghz to 4.2Ghz
Core Voltage is set to 1.230
tempature in load is around 72-80 degrees

that is all I have touched. I didn't fiddle around with any other settings in Bios apart from the CPU clock ratio and VCORE.

I used the guide on the overclockers website, I increased cpu ratio by 1, booted up, opened Core temp, CPU-Z and Prime 95 to stress for 20 mins then went back to Bios increase by 1 etc

things were good until 4.1 Ghz. I had to really ramp up the voltage to stabalise for 4.2Ghz from: VCore = 1.170 to 1.230

Is that normal?

oh and here is my specs

CPU - I5-3750k ivy bridge
GPU - ATI 7850 HD
Mother Board - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
RAM - 8 GB
CPU Cooler - Rev.2 Tranquillo (Gelid solutions)
HD - 1TB
SSD - 60GB

Case - Bitfenix Shinobi with 3 fans.
