first overclock...

Hi,

Im sure there are many such threads on here...

but if anyone has any advice or threads I can look at to help me overclock my comp it would be much appreciated.

i5 4690K
Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB)
Raijintek Themis Evo Professional CPU Cooler

Ideally something simple would be great! I've not overclocked before and only recently completed first build. Have looked online and found one guide for a similar board, but looked fairly extensive. Not looking to push the limits of my cpu, just seems silly not to overclock a bit at least. any advice welcomed.

thanks dempsey. That looks fairly simple..is that really all that is required for a simple overclock?

Also (and forgive me again for the 'common' question) but could you recommend a safe stress test program? I don't play games, just video and photo editing pretty much.

thanks i'll give it a whirl. i'm not really interested in pushing the chip too hard, more noise from the fans! I like my fairly quiet build with fans on medium setting (R4 case and fans). Naturally I know this flies in the face of good overclocking where the more cool air passing through the better! I'd be happy with around 4.2ish though. If you think i could achieve this by starting my Vcore a bit lower let me know, otherwise i'll do as you suggest and try it at 1.25 and see how it goes.

it seems stable at 1.12V, cpu clock ratio 42.

although it doesn't seem to like prime at all and gets up to 90c in under ten mins.

IBT doesn't go over 70 on high mode though.

Should i be concerned that it doesn't like prime?

Is it worth lowering the Vcore much more?
