Hi, sorry for the long post.

I've just bought my grandson a Quest 3 along with a Playseat Challenge and a Logitech 923 wheel and pedal set for Xmas.
I was going to just use the quest as a standalone and use the 923 with his Xbox, but I figured he would get more out of it with a gaming PC.

So, ON A BUDGET. I have been looking at the best PC I can get which will perform at a reasonable level.

I have found a couple of pre built ones and also some parts lists.
I was hoping for a bit of feedback and advice on which one to get, or where to improve a build.

You aren’t allowed to link builds or parths from overlcockers competitors so to avoid your thread getting closed I’d remove those

The 7700xt is somewhere around the equivalent of the ps5 pro, so it’s a competent card. The pc also allows your grandson to do school work and the likes on it.

The 4070 super in the pre build does out perform the 7700.

What is your overall budget as the different between a grand and 12/1300 can make quite the different in of building

£1300 max budget.

I can no longer edit my post, so I've reported the thread for removal.

I'll create a new thread once it's been deleted.

Mods have removed the links.

As said, max budget of £1300.
I have read that the Nvidia work better with VR, so I was leaning towards that.

Only looking at OCuk, so haven't checked elsewhere

Below will be a nice system......

used the 7600x as only £8 more than the 7600 and is slightly faster..most people get a cooler anyway rather than the stock that comes with the 7600

was going to put the 4070ti supper in as that was £699 but that's £100 more now this week which blows budget out water

same with the 4070super's..black fri you could get the zotac twinedge for £500..now £589...so seeing as the more budget cards aren't budget put a nicer card in..can put a dual fan gainward card that'll bring you down below the £1300

used a 2tb m.2 for more space for games etc...can save a bit dropping to 1tb

could save a bit more going cheaper case etc..don't think enough to change up to a 4070tisuper though

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,323.91 (includes delivery: £0.00)

£140 (incl. VAT)
£125 (incl. VAT)
£240 (incl. VAT)
£170 (incl. VAT)
£80 (incl. VAT)
£140 (incl. VAT)
£100 (incl. VAT)
Sim titles tend to benefit a lot from 3D cache, but it's hard to recommend going AM4 which is end of life or stretching to a 7800 X3D when trying to stick to a budget.

You should be fine with the 7600 though.

personally I wouldn't bother, the joy of the quest, is that you don't have to be tethered to a computer when playing a game, the quest 3 on its own gives freedom of movement, no breaking cpu ports, or accidentally pulling the headset of your head for it to drop hard on the floor
I can't think of a single application that is going to be too hard for the quest to run, so that you would need a pc to run it instead
as long as you bought the quest 3 that has the higher storage space, then you are good
You're just caught up in xmas present buying fever, like ordering way too much in an indian restaurant, better to save the money for another present another time, or even better add the money to your grandkid's trust fund, I presume that he has one.
Sorry.

Everything I run on my Quest 3 tests my current PC build beyond it's limits and am currently upgrading. A wheel is mentioned in the first post so PCVR is definitely required for sim racing.
