So this came today.....

20130205_175653.jpg

Ordered yesterday at lunchtime turned up today at 4. Outstanding service from Overclockers so now its just time to get to building it. I have a few friends coming round on friday with experience to give me a hand so i wont be doing too much before then although its mighty tempting. I just need to make sure I have all the drivers sorted since my evening internet is awful. Any other recommended programs?

Very nice setup mate, I also got a gigabyte graphics card but 7870. That one you have there is SWEET! Definitely good value for money as well as having amazing temperatures on those.

Everything else is nice too, especially the samsung SSD, I have that as one of my two SSD's also and you won't be disappointed!

I'm hoping so! I was amazed how big the 7950 is! Accidentally bought a non modular Psu but this seems to have loads of space to hide cables so should still look nice and clean.

Depending on how long ago you purchased it, could you not return it for a modular?.

Would also be based on how patient you are to wait and not build......I wouldn't be able to :p

Any recommendations on what to download to try out on this over the weekend? My internet speeds are pretty rubbish and im capped so im picking a few games to see whats going to test the system

what I have so far

Bioshock 1
Fable
Fallout 3 GOTY
Metro
Star Wars KotoR
Torchlight 2
Dawn of War Soulstorm

a mix of games that my current system and some newer ones there

Stuff on steam I can download

Alan Wake+American Nightmare
Alpha Protocol
Amnesia
Batman Asylum
Binary Domain
Bioshock 2 (Is this worth playing at all?)
Deus EX - Humana Revolution
Red Faction Guerilla
Saints Row 2+3
Civ V
Sleeping Dogs
Spec Ops the Line
Star Wars KotoR 2
Space Marine
The Witcher 1

What in there would be a good test?

Shall grab it :D

Was about to send you to here http://unigine.com/products/heaven/

But seems they're having problems.

Edit: Could always try a mirror.

Got this downloading just now

Not Spec Ops, that is horrific. Nice parts though, good luck! :)

The game or the PC port? I enjoyed what I played on the Xbox while I had it rented

EDIT:

So far this is all ive had time to do since we are busy with getting our bedroom redecorated and had to take everything out last night to get the carpet in and then everything back in tonight and finally get this house looking normal again. So Friday will be the big build night

So managed to grab a couple minutes to install the front 2 fans. Took me a while to figure out to use the screws with the case and not the ones with the fans but hey I got there! Now im wondering I have a 120mm rear exhaust and a 200mm top exhaust and now I have 2 120mm Intakes at the front. I assume this means I will now have negative pressure inside and so I would assume I would want to install my third fan on the window of the case? so theres more intake that exhaust?

If i understood you correct ill draw something!

------------------------^^^^^^ top exhaust
<--- rear top exhaust =======================
---------------------=-------------------------- =
---------------------=-------------------------- =
---------------------=-------------------------- =
---------------------=------side intake-----------=front intakes
---------------------==--------------------------=
---------------------=======================

If this is what you just described then that is totally fine to have, you see heat rises so at the point it rises you want to throw that hot air away from the case.

If your exhaust was at the bottom and intake at the top you'd be sending in cold air at the rising heat (mixing them) and exhausting cold air from the bottom.
The difference may be barely noticeable to you but there is a difference with different setups when done wrong or right.

But having said that as long as air is flowing from 1 direction to another from your computer there is no real "wrong" fan setup unless someone silly does all exhausts or intakes xD

Hope it helps. quite a lengthy reply xD

I hope the little drawing displays correct on your window, seems fine to me. the = is just the outer case, imagine it as being your case or a box :P the - is just empty space

(last two are me being terrified of putting the CPU in wrong and breaking everything)

The failed boot. Got the awful sick feeling in my stomach but eventually fixed it all and sorted it out. Replaced the motherboard and now we are up and running.

New desk is next but we need to do some re arranging of this room to get everything to fit in. I also need to do some serious cable management but at the moment im just delighted ive got the thing up and running!

lol yea a bit more cable management is needed! im not personally a fan of the cpu cooler but if it works then thats fine.

other than the above comments thats a nice performing rig you have there

Yeah after taking a while to get up and going i wanted to play some games today and will do proper cable management next week. The cooler is kinda love it/hate it I think. I like it and its working well temps are holding fine its also a slightly colder room so thatll be helping aswell.

The girl on the wall is Tricia Helfer of Battlestar Galactica. Its an Acting Outlaws calendar with Katee Sackhoff (the real reason I got the calendar).
