First peek of Natural Selection 2

I got an email from the team at Unknown Worlds earlier, informing me about some of the first Natural Selection 2 footage.

I'm sure a lot of you remember how insanely fun Natural Selection was, and I hope this is more of the same. They're building a new engine from scratch and this is a video of their 'dynamic infestation'.

I know it's been quite awhile since you've received any e-mail from us but we're now at the point where we're ready to start showing you footage from Natural Selection 2!

As you may have heard, we have been developing a custom engine for Natural Selection 2. This is not an insignificant undertaking, but we think it will let us make the game as high-quality as possible.

If we had to pick one word to describe NS2, we'd probably choose "dynamic". Our engine lets us have fully dynamic lighting, dynamic "infestation" (

) and much more.

I have been waiting for this for ages. I still play NS occasionally and I really had hoped they would have NS2 out a long time ago

theyr building a new engine as in theyr not modding source?
*edit nevermind it appears its still source

That 2nd video looks all fancy and everything but im fairly sure everyone would rather them get out a build ASAP with the gameplay elements, with room to add this feature later on.

Is flayra still heading up the dev team? That guy was a serious ******* and didnt listen to a word any european team said about game balance, even beating down every US team (and every other in the world) around we were still "not as knowledgeable".....

Yes.. or at least he ws when i left the team a few years back (and he was the reason i left.. ), although NS2 was only just in the very early phases.

That video is years old and uninspiring.

NS is a fantastic mod and it's a shame it's decline has been so harsh over the last few years. Most of my old clan [FX] moved over to WoW so there is yet another reason I detest that game so much.

There was supposed to be 2 games being made concurrently I thought - NS Source and NS2. I believe NS Source died a quiet death whilst NS2 is progressing but taking simply forever.

I still play NS regualrly and go by [FX] Sgt.Apone - am usually found on either the VH2 or ABLE.net servers - come find me

Combat maps suck - NS maps is where the chubby is at

I can't believe they are still showcasing that dynamic infestation video - it was posted on youtube in November 2006!!! If they haven't made much more progress than that we will all be using zimmer frames by the time it is in beta lol!
