First pic of the 9600 GT

Not as powerfull as the 8800 GT, the 9600 GT is the 3850's competitor i think, but its as powerfull as the 8800 GS, which is getting binned. :)

Can't wait to see the benchmarks of these cards and see how they will affect the current range of cards out.

There was a thread on the techpowerup forums a while back where some one had gotten their hands on two of these by accident, they thought they were getting two 8800GTs, but got two of these. I'll get the link.

I recall some pictures of a 9600 GT that had been mounted on a motherboard as proof of ownership for some 9600 GT benchmarks on VR-Zone or something a while back.

Also, the 9600 GT is going to be slower and cheaper, just fills a lower product segment. 64 shaders, 256-bit memory bus.

Geeze are you guys behind or what? :o

links to these threads would be useful

Yeah its not a bad card, a review of it was posted a while ago now, its supposedly replacing the 8600's, but its actually up with/and faster than the 8800 GS in some cases (not sure if that will be because the GS tested was only the 384mb, so could be looking slower as its memory limited).

Dug it up here :-

Probably more bandwidth limited than anything else - the 9600 GT has the same memory/rop configuration as the 8800 GT, the shaders and TMUs are half as much though.

The 8800 GS on the other hand only has a 192-bit bus so it's understandably crippled as such.

if they replace the 8600gt which is in the 50-60 quid price bracket then i would love to replace the 8400gs i use in the media pc with a 9600gt for 60 quid.

Yeah at that price it would offer staggeringly good price to performance. I have a feeling it will be more expensive than that though.

Probably would replace the 8600GTS so it competes with the 3850xt. Around £110 or so.
