Hi

After lurking in the background for a while I have registered and this is my first post. I am ready to update my computer or should that be build a new computer! :)

For now I will be retaining a 17"crt monitor but intend to go for 22" lcd later and have a new LG DVD drive as my old one failed at Christmas. Grrr.

I will be using Windows Ultimate, of which I have 32 and 64 bit versions, Office 2007 Ultimate and primarily and most importantly this will be used for gaming and no doubt at some stage some overclocking.

Any coments on the spec below? Yes I know for example the E8400 is £60 cheaper but I am within my budget.

Thanks

Asus Maximus Formula Intel X38 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Gigabyte I-Solo 210 Black Midi Case No PSU

Coolermaster Real Power 700w Modular Power Supply

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.16GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-9200C5 1150MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Samsung SpinPoint T 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD501LJ) x2

unless you are planning for CFx or tri-sli in the near future, a 500W PSU should be fine.

i would say get the e8400 ,as i dont think an extra 0.5 on the multiplier is worth £60.

Thanks for the feedback.

I can not see the point of saving a few pounds for the sake of it. The Coolmaster 520 is only £21 cheaper but 25% less powerful. I would rather have the ability to crossfire in the future.

My spec comes in at just under £1000 and I have a budget of £1400 so even if I get a monitor now I am still well within my budget.
