hey folks, long time (5 years) lurker just signed up, hi to all.

I`m on the verge of building a new Core i7 system. My current rig is amd 64 dual core 4200 with 2 gig ram and ATI radeon x1950 pro gfx.

I`m totally replacing my rig , all except the mouse and 2 hdds.

going core i7 920, 6 gig ram, asus p6t, 1 tb sata2 F1 hdd + my two old sata 1 hdds, and two radeon 4890`s in cross fire. 23 inch samsung moni, and the silverstone fortress case.

my question is what size of psu should i be looking at? i would eventually like to shove a couple of water cooling loops in 1 for gfx and 1 for cpu + nb etc.

cheers!
Leigh.

budget, well i dont wanna go over 130 quid if possible, and id like modular, but it depends on what wattage i would require. ive been looking at 1000w but maybee thats overkill?

cheers!

sounds good!

owt that reduces teh cost of my rig is good by me !

ill look into it

cheers!

Agreed, the Be Quiet is a quality piece of kit - really nice (link here).

Also, this PC Power and Cooling 750W is currently on offer and it is another very high quality PSU. It comes up top in most of the online reviews - so a very good unit, and a bit cheaper than the Be Quiet (no modular cables and uses a smaller fan)

Those old style sata disks are going to really slow that pc down assuming they are how it reads and are the old 150 sata's
