1st thing, Hi to all and other newbie type exclamations!

Have just bought a new pc for the 1st time in a while. Was gonna build one myself but couldnt be bothered in the end so went for one from Mesh (A3800 Matrix).

Am really looking forward to getting the new comp as i'll be playing high end games on it but I have a query regarding RAM. It comes with 1gb DDR2 533mhz.
I set out to buy a pc as cheaply as possible that i could get away with, but still to get good frame rates but I would like to know if i would see a huge difference to the everyday running of it and on games if i were to upgrade to 2gb OCZ ram with quick timings? would the fps be a lot different?

The spec is as follows:
AMD x2 5000+
1gb DDR2 533mhz
256mb ATi x1950 Pro
ASUS M2NPV-VM ,AM2,Geforce 6150+nForce 430,PCIe
300gb sata hdd 16mb
and will try windows vista home premium on it

Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

thanks Defcon. I've heard it will make a bit of a difference. I expectrunning Windows vista home premium will eat up a cunk of Ram too.

Will quick timings on the Ram have a big diffference too?

thanks

They do on AMD systems.

Yeah a64s love low latencies

cool thanks, will have to save up at some point then. my plan for a 500 pound gaming pc soon turned into a lot more money.

Am i likely to see a 10fps increase on a lot of games do you think.
Am planning on playing FEAR, Far cry and Titan Quest on maximum quality at 1280 res

You'll certainly see some difference as less will have to be written and read from the page file.
