Hello first time poster but been watching these forums for a very long time.

So I finally dropped the potato box and everything related and have moved into pc games, my friends have helped me out to a degree and lent me an old laptop which bundles through but it struggles a lot with our current biggest game arma3

So as is I did some looking around and managed to get together around £3500

So I was looking for help, I've looked over a lot of pre made systems and nothing has leaped out at me. And the more I have looked the more I'd really think I'd enjoy building one myself.

So having read lots of recent posts on different builds I'd wonder if the community would help me spec something.

I am already decided on the corsair carbide 540 case I've seen one up close and really like it, and I would like an nvidia card as the nature of my gameplay involves lots of recording. And I have been using it though if someone can suggest something else that would work as long as it is realistically easy to use.

From reading I'm not really at a budget for 4k resolution but a reasonably high resolution would be nice and I would ask the build includes a couple of monitors for that.

Air cooled would be preferred I'm still. Dry new and water cooled systems look like a lot of things to do for someone who has never even looked at the inside of a working pc, but we all have to start somewhere. I guess

Many thanks for reading and much more to those that can help.

Hi welcome

When you say a couple of monitors, I presume you are just gaming on one of them ? (Dual monitor gaming isn't ideal due to the bezels being in the middle)

Do you need a mouse, keyboard, speakers and copy of windows ?

Awesome budget by the way :D

Yeah thanks, one monitor for gaming one for teamspeak Skype YouTube web browsing general stuff.

Yupon keyboard mouse headset/speakers windows as well thermal paste? Cables everything really all I have is my laptop an a tea co own mouse which I really dislike.

Thanks for speedy reply.

Here is a rough spec. There are lots of ways you could go with this build due to the huge budget.

YOUR BASKET
2 x Asus GeForce GTX 780Ti ROG Matrix 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (MATRIX-GTX780TI-P-3GD5) £499.99 (£999.98)
1 x Asus PB278Q 27" Professional LED Multimedia Monitor - Black £419.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 - Devils Canyon Core i7 4790K CPU & Motherboard Bundle **£43 Saving** £331.98
1 x Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Midnight Grey £229.99

1 x Crucial MX100 512GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter CT512MX100SSD1) £149.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX24C11T3K2/16X) £119.99

1 x Samsung SE-S208DB/TSBS External Slimline 8x DVD-RW (TV Connect) - Black £21.98
Total : £2,982.73 (includes shipping : ).

You could go 27" for both monitors if you prefer. It depends on your own preference and how much space you have on your desk etc. The 24" IPS dell monitor would be used for skype, teamspeak, youtube etc, with the 27" 1440P for gaming on.

Another option for the gaming monitor would be the 27" Asus PG278Q ROG. It is pre-order at the moment, and has a due date of the 28th Aug.

The 5.1 speakers get pretty good reviews. I don't know what sort of speaker setup you want, so that is more of a placeholder.

The Mouse and Keyboard are personal preference. The ones I selected are pretty solid though.

I haven't included a headset, as I have no idea which is a good set.

You can also add LED strips and sleeved power supply extension if you want to bling it up a bit.

I am sure you will get a few more opinions later on :)

**I put the wrong windows in the spec :o **

Swap the above for the 64bit version

YOUR BASKET
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £74.99
Total : £74.99 (includes shipping : ).

Really nice budget for this build. Goodluck to you on it it should be epic jump if you are playing on laptops and potatos. I know you have said about wanting nvidia gpu for the recording are you talking exclusively shadowplay? if you are using an external program is there any other reason you would skip AMD cards? ;)

Been away all weekend just got back, as to recording I tried fraps and I don't know if it is the laptop or the way I was using it but it made some games unplayable. Everyone I play with recommends shadowplay for its ease of use and the fact it's supported by the cards, I would but open to suggestions though.

As the spec I was looking over a few builds I'd really like to go red with some fans and I think it was the asus Maximus hero motherboard would that be able to be worked in?

Love the cards though they look and from what I have read perform fantastic

The GTX 780ti ROG graphics cards have gone back up to £559. I would just go for the standard Asus GTX 780 ti at £499.99.

You can fit the Asus Z97 hero board in if that is what you want. Just swap out the Gigabyte/cpu bundle in my spec and swap it for the Asus board, and then just add a separate i7 4790k.

You can swap the H105 fans for something like the Corsair SP120 and the other case fans for the AF120. They have red accent rings so they will match a red/black build. The H105 pump also has coloured accent rings.

You just need to decide on what sort of monitors you want. I would read some reviews on the gsync ones and gaming monitors in general.

Probably do the same for the Mouse/Keyboard/Speakers/Headset so you can get an idea of what you might like.

No point in rushing with this sort of budget :)
