:)Just thought i'd post my first real overclock,as i`ve only really messed around with my unstable Asrock.
I bought a gigabyte p31 board to run with a e2200 and 2 gig of ddr667 and a Powercolour 3850.
i have managed from reading various bits on here to get the cpu upto 3ghz temps idle are 24c and i have run Orthos for 40 minutes and my temp has not gone over 60c,is this ok for a beginner?
i have had no problems in any of my games either.
Anymore advice will be brilliant
Steve

Steve - great start. Generally to consider an overclock stable you should run Orthos for 8 hours at a time. I do this after I'm happy with the speed I've reached in my overclock and just do 3-4 mins at a time trying to find the max of the chip.

Thanks for the advice Chris,i`ve managed to run orthos now for 4 hours temps again not going over 60.
I was trying to leave it on for a full 8 hours and we had a power cut!!!

Damn! Side point here - I always plug my kit into a belkin surge protector - they're cheap and protect your PSU when the grid goes all Chuck Norris on your arse.
