Hi all,

Finally have my first proper website setup which I plan to keep and build on.

I haven't finished it yet, but I thought I would show you all to see what you think.

The CSS and original index.htm was made by THEMAD2 and tweaked slightly by SherberT*

The gallery I setup using Adobe Lightroom (was very impressed)

I wondered what you guys all thought of it and how it can be improved upon :)

Thanks all :)

looks good to me, a nice clean design and some of your photos are breathtaking

one comment is that there is no link back to your home page from the gallery...

I quite like it but I would change the font colour to a lightish grey? Looks a bit too in your face I think

Good point.

Going to have a look into what Adobe made and see if I can edit it to stick a link in.

Thanks :)

To the same colour as the headers?

A above - its not bad for a first site. Just to be picky though....

Try changing the text to a light grey.

Change the rollover colour to a grey/dark grey gradient. Blue doesnt look right.

Indent the actual body text further. Needs more room to breathe.

indent the logo a bit more - it doesnt line up with the text under the image and jars the eye a bit.

Play around with the typography - its all a bit flat. Try making your h1 bigger, and make the h2 - Legal, smaller and a different colour/shade of grey.

Gallery - its a shame this looks so different to the site - can you at least fix the width? Bring through the main navigation so you can get back? I'm guesing its a downloaded gallery script so you might be limited in what you can do. Maybe look at slideshow pro, which will integrate better into your site? There doesnt appear to be any categories? How will it work when you get say 200 pics?

I'd probably go with a different image for you home page. You have a black and white theme in your site, so maybe one of the headlight ones would add a dynamic splash of colour. I just think the one you picked isnt the best out of the ones in the gallery.

I agree with Sagalout and jdickerson, change the rollover colours. Something like this perhaps...

jephotographyed6.jpg

Code:
#navigation ul li a:hover {
	background-color: #fff;
	color: #000;
	border-bottom: 3px solid #666;
}
Other than that it's a good first attempt at a website. :)

I'd saw swap the hover over icons to pink. :p

iCraig must know where I'm comming from on that one, if no one else does.

Thanks for all the comments people :) - Really appreciate the feedback :) will work on it at some point today :)

Hi all,

I have finally gotten around to editing the main page going by your suggestions above, (esp Sagalout) and have played about with the layout and colours.

Really like that webpage. Nice simple design, very easy on the eye.

Definitely looks better. Good job :)

I'd still look at trying a differnt pic on the homepage though ;)

With the legal statement, try making is a darker shade of grey and/or smaller. At the moment its given as much prominence as the main heading and text. Whilst I understand it important its detracting from the content.
Getting there though :)

Yes, haven't had a chance to change the picture yet, I might try greyscaling one of the pictures to go with the whole grey/black look :)

Thanks for the comments, it still needs some work though, agreed.
