After much deliberation i bought a Nikon D50 which arrived on Thursday. I've been considering an SLR for a while then went on holiday with my cusin who has a D50 so I got to play around with it a bit and whitness the quality of it which convinced me to buy one.

I spent most of Thursday reading the manual and playing about with it then went out to my local MTB trails in Leigh Woods yesterday looking for things to photograph. Today i went to Castle Combe to see some classic racing and for photo opportunities, i thought i'd share some of my best over the two days, comments and suggestions welcome.

I like the long exposure and writing your name. What did you use for that?

The rest don't really do it for me I'm afraid but I bet you will get the hang of it in no time and I look forward to your next thread. :)

Nice shots, i think they all look really good apart from the first one, the composition just seems really 'off', the cars are in the far right of the shot, and you can't really see much of them, but the as i sed, the others look great, keep up the good work :)

The light writting was just with an LED on my keys with a 10s shutter.

Thanks for the comments, the first shot i wasn't sure about either but i quite liked how the cars were creeping into the picture. I've been looking at other motorsport photography and noticed the panning the camera with the car technic so the car is car is focused but the background is blurred to give a nice impression of speed, its something i'd like to try next time i go and watch some races.
