Hi everyone thanks for accepting me on the forums. I have never built a pc myself but seen enough videos and done ram / part upgrades over the past to build one myself.

I am going to start buying my parts this week to build over the next month and was wondering if you could have a glance over the parts for suggestions/improvements.

I will be using it for gaming, not editing videos or anything like that.

I have put a r9 390x as i have heard when new dx is out they should get some gains? So i am up for a nvidea card if there are no graphics differences.

I still own a acer p193w 19.5 inch vga monitor from years ago to use as a second monitor. I have already bought my standesk 2200 ready.

My parts list is

Removed at request

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Bluez and welcome to the forums. First I would recommend removing the link, unfortunately you can't link to competitors which your list appears to link many... Sorry! :p

As for your actual build, it's not too bad. I would change the AMD 390X for a NVIDIA 970, much better performance for £80 less. I've added below my build suggestion based on your c.£1200 budget. I've changed a few bits for better performance, due to deals OcUK offer. Such as the Asus monitor and HyperX SSD etc.

To try save you some pennies, I've not added the custom cooler as it's not worth it unless you're planning on overclocking? If you are I'd get something better anyway. Plus if you need a DVD drive feel free to add one in, most people don't use them these days. All in all, it only comes to £1060 plus delivery all from Overclockers which is over £100 less. :p

Thanks for that new list. Sorry I did not mean to post competitors, I used that website to check compatibility of parts.

I have two cats and no matter what I do there will be a build up of dust. So I want a dust filtered case to make it last longer in between cleans

Good shout Micky.

Bluez, feel free to pick your own case it's personal preference. Although they come with dust filters at the bottom. You can buy extra dust filters if needed.

Just updated the below to the MSI & 6600K bundle, along with an Alpenfohn cooler.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I am so close to pulling the trigger on purchasing haha.

I would be playing games like cod, ark, wow. I dont need 4k, i might go 144hz or 1440p eventually, would a 970 still be ok for 1080p ultra for now and then sli down the line or buy a new card at the time. I cant spend more than 1400-1500 at the moment (misses would kill me)

Yep, 1080p works beautifully with a 970.

I have one and works great with all games @ max settings. :)

Thank you for all your help. I finally pulled the trigger this morning using this site and another (I spent more on this one :), and only used the other to ensure delivery for tomorrow).

Looking forward to my first build

You've already mentioned cats & dust but are there other non-technical factors we need to consider? Like size, noise, transportability?
