...Booked for Saturday in Picton, NSW!

Wish me luck :D Any tips apart from don't pass out and miss it all? ;)

Not sure I'm going to get time to go to NZ and do the Nevis Bungee though... flights are mega expensive and I'm not sure I can fit it around work :( AFF seems quite cheap over here though so might do that instead if I enjoy the jump.

Enjoy! :D I never did a Tandem as I don't think I'd ever be able to do it having been an advanced skydiver and instructor myself - I'd be the one wanting to be in control! :p

Have fun and enjoy the feeling! :D

Cheers! Is it worth doing the course, it seems very cheap over here...

$430 Aussie for ground training and first solo jump... that's what.. 183 quid?

Done it :D That was the most mental ******* intense, fun thing I've ever done. Enjoyed it so much that I'm going back tomorrow to do another one (maybe two) :) $150 Aussie each jump is a bargain!

**** me, I wish I'd checked the padding by my groin before jumping though. Once the chute went up it was digging into my nads where I hadn't put it in place properly!

Not sure I can fit 9 days full AFF in though what with work commitments :( I take it it'd be a waste of money doing level 1 as it'd not be recognised or current by the time I get to the UK.... hrm - maybe will do it back in the UK or when I come back here next year. How expensive is it in England? You can do the whole thing for just under AUD $2000 here

Nice one, id love to try it myself. Theres a club not far from me who offer tandem jumps via various charities. You have to raise so much for the charity of choice before they will consider you. But my uncle is an ex royal marine and he has done a few HALO jumps from 35000 feet, out of a c130, said he peed himself on his first jump:D

I'd be the one wanting to be in control! :p

Don in Megalomaniac shocker :D + :p

I've spoke to Freefaller about doing this myself via MSN but still after around 2 years haven't got around to it  One of the things I have yet to do but will some day.
Lets us know how it goes & get some pics.
My advice would be when you do crap yourself don't do it literally as the dude on your back won't be happy :D

Just read your last post.
No pics :(

A tandem would be too heavy to jump more than a little. You should use a much lighter bicycle, like a BMX kind of thing.

:)

Will look at getting pics on my flickr at some point soon... sucks having no internet apart from internet cafes, who get suspicious when they see you get out a usb drive or CD!

~£66 is a bargain!

I'm sure I'm too heavy to jump :(

How heavy? They will do people over 100 kilos here, but they have a surcharge. Not sure about the upper limit.

In the UK I think the max for one place I looked at was about 18 stone. I'm just a smidgeon under 15 stone and no probs at least here.

EDIT: Hrm seems it's not THAT expensive to do AFF in the UK. http://www.skydiving.co.uk/Accelerated.htm If I don't get back over here on another assignment next year or permanently, I think I'll go for it in the summer :) I think I'd probably feel a bit safer doing it in the UK tbh, especially if I manage to do any damage to myself (private health insurance at home)!

Solo Courses - Accelerated Freefall (AFF) and RAPS (Static Line)
The weight limit for solo skydiving is 15 stones (95kg), although it should be noted that
student weight should be in proportion to student weight. For a solo jump, the student
should have a Body Mass Index (BMI) no greater than 27.5. Use the chart (opposite) to
assess your height and weight to see if you meet the solo course requirements. A
reasonable, but not high, degree of fitness and agility is required for solo skydiving.

:(

BMI sucks! Means I need to be <13 stone, which means, being overweight and natural heavy, I'd have to lose my legs.

Sydney Skydivers?

I jumped with them not last summer but the summer before.

Yep - some of the people there are just plain mental

As for movie... can't upload from internet cafe, maybe when I get home on Dec 20th :p

The only aprehension I have about the course is being responsible for controlling my own parachute... it seems a bit of a short time to get lined up properly for landing. The instructor I had was pulling some crazily sharp turns, I thought the chute was going to collapse

EDIT: Did another two jumps today... this is going to make me very poor...
