First test / review: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

Good to see the EGLF1A2s doing well in rolling resistance and fuel tests. This is what the 1st ones were poor at. I think overall I would go for the Eagles and forget about Pirellis!

An interesting read, however, they lost me at:

They are next to useless in the wet on my car. The CS3's give me much better wet grip.

The 'NEW' P Zero.

ie not the existing one.

Rolling Resistence figures look hugely impressive for the Assymetric 2 - definately my next tyre.

Shame they didnt stick those Falkens in to shut the cheapskates up.

Just had a set of 225/45 17 94Y F1A2s fitted this morning to the S4 for £114 each. Not that much difference in the price from the PS3s - £116 each and SC3s - £115. If I wanted the original F1As they would have been £101 fitted. Obvioulsy prices from the same source. The supplier did say that was the best price available at the moment due to them being so new, but he would say that!

The only other price I could find for the F1A2s was from mytyres and that was £116 + postage and then fitting.

Haven't driven the car yet, will report back in a week or so once I get used to them.

Crikey really?! That's a huge deal breaker if thats true. CS3's in that size are £114!

I also spotted them at £170 in the popular 225/40/18 size, makes even the Michelin's cheap.

Maybe they will drop as they become more available?

Assymetric 2:
225/45 17 on the front for £105
245/40 17 on the rear - £175
CS3s are £135
PS3s are £155

Food for thought..

I was actually thinking of changing my tyres as I've got some very old Pilot Sports (note, not PS2) on the front and back.
In damp (and wet) conditions, it slides quite a bit. Understeers too, which is odd.

They've got loads of tread on the rear, so I might just be a ***** and stick some Assy 2s on the front and leave it like that :o

Was that at a big chain or specialist please?

Sounds like the premium price for AS2s is only temporary whilst prices settle down once better stocked (Im hoping!). I just got a full set of CS3s so not looking to change for a short while anyway!
