So, the time has come to get rid of the old CRT as my new study doesn't have room to fit the fat old thing.

I know very little about TFT but have done some reading. I don't ever play FPS games and the monitor while used for other games will also be used for office, internet related tasks and occasional DVD/TV use.

Budget is about £250 and I'd like at least a 19" screen, quality is more important than asthetics.

Looking at the OC stock I see these as options. Please recommend any others available elsewhere.

LG L226WTQ 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver £211.49
Samsung SM-206BW 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black £176.24
Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black £234.99

Any help greatfully received!

It no longer fits on your desk? i urge you not to if you like pc games
if just web browsing and occasional game then yes

If quality is your bag stay away from 22" screens as they are all have TN panels in them and you just have to have a quick look around these forums to see the pitfalls of TN.

The 2007wfp has the vastly superior S-IPS panel (IMHO) that slays any of the TN stuff in sheer image quality. If the response time is putting you off it shouldent, as i've seen it said many times that dell has quoted the iso time whereas most other times seen are grey to grey, i've read that the g2g for this panel is 8ms. I've yet to see a complaint about it anyways.

As said above, if you are a competative gamer (which you said you wern't) then don't make the switch.

PS I don't work for dell :P

The SM206BW is really nice - got one myself and its awesome.

The 226BW is virtually identical, only it's 2" bigger. There's no difference in resolution though so some might argue that the 20" produces slightly better picture quality because the pixels are smaller. For the £60 difference, I personally don't think it's worth it.

Before I order a Dell 2007WFP could someone confirm that no matter what the rev of the panel is, they are all the S-IPS panels?

Thanks!

Thanks for all the replys. After further reading I'm going to get the Dell 2007WFP screen. Hardly read a bad word about it on several forums.
