Just received my x1950 Pro (Sapphire 256mb PCI-E) this morning and I've got a few questions.

In Catalyst Control Center is there a way to adjust the fan speed?

At stock speeds the image is perfect but if I alter the core or memory speed at all the screen starts to "pulsate". There's no tears or dots but the whole screen seems to have a yellowy/green pattern flash over the desktop. Would this normally be a culprit of heat or could the fact I only have a 400w Jeantech psu come into play?

Any help would be appreciated.

Stumbled across Ati Tools so I've been able to play with the fan speeds that way.

Tried playing with the clock speeds again but even the slightest increase in speeds results in this weird pattern flashing on screen.

If anyone can help me or advise what's causing this I'd be extremely grateful.

Probably ATI Tray Tools being incompatible. Their forum is on guru3d if you want to find out more about them.

Try using the Catalyst Control Panel to overclock? Seem to recall that's a little better.

Sorry I should have made it clear. I only used Ati Tools to access the fan speeds but used Catalyst to do the overclocking.

i have the 1950pro 256 and mine overlcocks fine i did sea green and yellow bits on the screen once after an overagresive overclock.

Yup on the desktop. At stock it's fine but as soon as I move either of the sliders up, even one step, and hit apply the "flashing" starts. As soon as I reset it to stock levels the flashing stops.

Have you tried completely removing ati tray tools? With my x1950xt-x, it locked my voltages to 2d mode even when running in 3d....obviously that led to it being el sucko.

It was showing these symptoms before I even knew Ati tools existed. I then installed Ati Tools to increase the fan speed thinking that might help but it made no difference.

Griff, I had exactly the same problem with the supplied drivers when I 1st tried to use CCC to OC my 512 AGP version of your card. I also tried the lastest version and had the same thing happen.

I have no idea why but it now works fine with the supplied drivers (6.14.10.6635) and is holding steady. Maybe worth the effort to go through some of the older drivers.

Don't you need to use the supplied drivers with that card to get the clock speeds? I'm sure I read that somewhere...could be wrong though.
