Payed for/branded software does not necessarily mean better, in fact, a lot of the time it is actually worse than good freeware. Companies like Avast and Avira provide free home user licenses to promote their corporate products.
They are very high quality, and both are highly regarded AV software providing much the same fuctionality as both Kaspersky and Norton without the expense. Similarly with Comodo firewall, a free home user license is granted, in the hope that it will attract corporate investment.
Most IT savvy users will not touch Kaspersky or Norton with a barge pole, knowing that they offer nothing that freeware can't and are generally bloated.
I am sure someone amongst all of the IT gurus here will back me up...
really? learn something new everyday. im very fussy about the anti virus software on my system. i hate any kind of slow down during start up. avg seems to do the job at the moment for me

should get all the parts through tomorrow which gives me 2.5 days (have time off work!) to get the thing up and running.
im truly jealous i have to wait till January before i can start my build because they laugh at my feeble credit rating
Enjoy! and as Mayfair said just take your time and it will be fine, its not really rocket science.
