Should I change or add anything? This is my first build so I'll need to know if I'm missing any cables or fans or little things like that? Also the stock cooler should be ok on the 2500k I am not planning to overclock for a while yet!

Thanks hoping to order asap!

Do you really need 8GB of RAM? What do you do that justifies it?

Change the PSU to the XFX Pro 850W Core Edition, it is cheaper and more efficient. Altho a good 750W PSU would be perfectly able to power your build, even with two GTX 470s.

The only thing that I could think you would need, that isn't on that list are cable ties to help with cable management.

Do you have an OS?

Looks good.

I would suggest changing the PSU to this one.

Also, I wouldn't suggest going for a B grade graphics card, you only get 90 day warranty instead of 2-3 years - and the graphics cards is one of the PC components most likely to fail. Instead - this card is new (2 year warranty), is £22 more and usually performs better.

If you plan on running a second graphics card in SLI/CF in the future, then I would suggest going for this motherboard instead.

No I don't need the 8GB unless running Cubase or a similar DAW program would use over 4GB? I thought it is cheap enough so why not go for it. Thanks for the PSU and MOBO changes!

It says it has a 2 year warranty on the webpage though? The reasoning behind nVidia is I am interested in the 3d vision and I was hoping to maybe get a 3rd gen 120hz monitor in the future so if the single 470 wasn't up to it I could SLI another or maybe go straight for a newer single GPU. I'm not too certain what monitor I will be using for this rig it could be a 2nd hand office flat screen which could have a fairly small resolution so this could be overpowered? Maybe I should go for a new 460gtx or something even cheaper for the warranty ?

Thanks again guys

EDIT: I'm getting a spare OS from the office Windows 7

It may say 2 years warranty on the product page - but this may not be accurate as these descriptions are often copied wholesale from the standard product page.

I would suggest sending OCUK a webnote so you can clarify the warranty offered with this B grade card.

This thread discusses how the warranty OCUK provides for B grade products has recently increased from 14 to 90 days. After this you may be able to send a faulty card to the manufacturer - but i'm not sure how it works since you are technically not the original purchaser.

Hi guys I finally have the money for ordering! Can this final spec be improved? Some reasoning behind it -

I am buying a Dell U2311h elsewhere.

I am in a college house with wireless in the sitting room so using the USB device I should be able to pick up a decent signal through a single thin to medium thickness wall?
Our router seems to be unreliable about letting new computers connect to it ( I have no idea why to be honest ) so I thought I should buy the 30m wired cable just in case I have to go wired. This was the only way we could get some computers connected to our wifi.

I don't know if I need any extra cables or fans or if that thermal paste is good etc. please let me know before I confirm my order thanks!

Webnote sent! Cheers

I completely forgot: I need a wireless network card or something so I can access the internet wirelessly can you guys reccomend one or if I am mistaken exactly how do I set it up?

EDIT: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-001-TP

One of these should do the job?

I'm probably in the minority here but for wireless internet, i just bought a cheap wireless USB stick thing, plugged it in, win 7 found drivers, found my router, entered code, had internet in about 30 seconds :), granted the cards are better, but i have to admit i play Modern Warfare 2 online and get silky smooth gameplay, still these guys know more than me i assure you.

Hi guys I have finally got this built after about 5 hours and I am now wondering what exactly should I do after installing windows 7? I am just installing the drivers that came with the mobo now. How should I go about setting up the software on this? Everything seems really nice so far thanks for the help!

Motherboard drivers - reboot pc
video drivers - roboot pc
all other drivers - reboot inbertween
get ya anti virus software on it then get it on the internet - full windows updates.....
make system recovery dvds using the built in backup & restore feature in win 7
(takes time I know but worth it in the end if you ever need to use it)
then start with your 3rd party software like games etc
may be worth getting some hardware testing software aswell to give a good hammering.
