Right, when i start up my PC, nothing comes up on the monitor, i hear no beeps or any sign that the computer is booting up except my all my fans are spinning, my hd 4850 light and hdd lights are flashing but i still get no display.

Specs:
X2 5600+
2GB Corsair XMS2
250GB Seagate HDD
HD 4850 GFX
Corsair TX650W PSU

Ive tried reseating almost everything but nothing works, i still get just the fans spinning, but no display, or no beep. Whats going on?

Hi,

Have got the 12Volt 4 pin plugged in,it may be labeled P4,or your motherboard may take 2x 4 pins to make a total of 8 labeled EPS12V cable. This connection is usually located up behind your processor and needs to be plugged in to get power to your cpu.

So you need your 20pin +4 pin main power connected, plus you need the 4 pin 12volt P4,or it may be 2x4 pins EPS12V plugged in as well to power your CPU.

Right, the 20 pin goes into the 20 pin connecter and the 4 pin in the 4pin connecter (the one next to the cpu?) im going to try and see if i can upload a pic of my case.

What motherboard are you using!
Were you plugged the 20 pin ATX connector you should have 4 connectors not used try plugging the extra 4 pins in - or is the 20 pin ATX connector is actualy 24pins? - If get what I mean

What motherboard do you have, your main power connecter should be 24 pin ie the 20 pin and the four pin go together into the 24 pin socket. Then seperately you should have another 4 pin called a P4,or 2 x 4 pins to make 8 called EPS12V,these are your 12 volt power connecters and are seperate to your 20 pin + 4pin that you use to connect your main power.

Do The Fans Start off fast and then die down or do they stay at full speed? Also have you tried the obvious tests of one stick of memory at time?

Have tried the memory modules idividually just in case you have a faulty one.
Just checked the Gigabyte website the main ATX power should be 24 pin.

Tried the sticks individually, no luck, the fans do not start off at a high speed and die down, they just stay at a steady speed.

So is there a 4 pin that attaches to the 20 pin connecter? if so where would it go, because the 20 pi nconnecter fits in its slot perfectly.

both cables?, theres only a 6-pin connecter as far as i can see, but wouldnt it atleast boot without a graphics card?
Graphic card not starting would cause motherboard to give error beeps... but not many cases have beeper anymore and I'm not sure how many motherboards have it built in.
Except for that possible lack of "way to express errors" fact that fans start hints that problem is in CPU-motherboard axis. (only way for PSU to cause this would be not giving power good signal)

Im using a GA-MA770-DS3, the main power connecter is a 20 pin
It's 24 pin ATX connector...
(20pin ATX connectors shouldn't even have been used for many years)

Oh, sorry, i got confused, anyway, ive just tried a friends old x550 and i sitll get the same problem, as soon as i press the power switch, fans spin up, but no display and no beeps.

edit - the 4 pin connecter goes into the slot nearish to the cpu right?
