first time build SATA cable

My SATA power cable has got one end which plugs in the hard drive and the other end is a 6 pin end 2 by 3 pin. One square is covered in plastic and does not have a hole in it so everytime i plug it in the pins can't go into it so i can't plug it in on gigabyte DS4 board. Any suggestions?

Would that cable be for plugging into the PSU -assuming it is a modular PSU?

lol i can't believe i asked such a stupid question i realised shortly after posting that it might actually go into the psu. Thanks anyway.
