Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a new pc. I mostly use my pc for gaming (MW2, and ruse). I do 3D modeling aswell, so something that will be good at rendering would be useful. (I have windows already)

Can anyone suggest a good build?

So far I have this, although it's abit overbudget -

Or could anyone suggest any cut backs without losing loads of power.

Thanks!

That looks fine, the only thing I would change is the thermal compound to mx3.

Oh and a better graphics card would be useful but I suppose you can always upgrade later.

Seems like a decent system. You may have to play around with some of the game settings using a 5770. I take it your monitor is < 1920x1200?

I would stick to the 600w if you can afford it. The Corsair is fine but the 600w will give you some headroom later if you decide to upgrade the graphics card.

I would go with Huddy on this, you'll be kicking yourself if you go 400W when you want a 5870/GTX470 or more harddrives etc. maybe. You would have to upgrade the psu bringing that cost into consideration.

I'm certainly kicking myself with the 450W corsair one.

Power supply definately not the place to scrimp some £s off the total, another vote for changing the thermal paste as well. I'd scrape together another £30 and get a GTX460, its much more than £30 extra performance over the 5770.

I'd agree. I'd also agree with getting some better themal paste, like MX-3 or my personal fave, AS5.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Yeah my monitor is a couple years old, the res of it is below 1920x1200.

I might downgrade the ram to Kingston HyperX 4GB, and the antec case then, anyone know if the Xigmatek Asgard Midi Tower Case - Black case is big and cool enough for my rig.
