Just a quick question i currently have parts strewn all across my floor and am putting together a pc for the first time:)

One thing i'm sure i read somewere but cannot seem to find now is installing the motherboard, do i stick all the memory, proccessor etc on before i stick it in the case or stick it in the case and then bung in all the bits on top?

You can do it either way, I tend to attach the motherboard to the tray first (removable motherboard trays are great) and then put everything in while it is outside the case before just slotting the tray into place.

If you put the motherboard on the removable tray is it safe from discharges and such?

You mean when it is outside the case? It isn't grounded if it is although unless the PSU is plugged in the case itself won't be grounded either so really it makes little difference. Basically you need the PSU to provide a ground connection so if the motherboard is sat on a removeable tray but connected to the PSU then it should be as safe as if it was in the case and connected to the PSU.

no you still need to be carefull. i must admit i have never used a wrist strap or anythin. just followed basic rules liek dont build on carpet lol i allways work in kitchen on table with stone floor. some heatsinnks requre instaltion with mobo out of case if you got one of the big coolers. other wise you can do either way.

i personally in stall cpu out of case but then push ram and attach cpu cooler when its inside case laying down.
