Hi all,

I am looking to build my first PC and have made a list of components from overclockers. have a look at the screen shot and tell me your opinions or if I have went wrong somewhere. Thanks in Advance! :) Happy New Year Everyone!!

used for?

get normal q6600 if you are set on that CPU, most will easily reach 3GHz anyway

P45 MB unless you got plans for crossfire with 4800 cards

with the money saved get the thermalright ultra extreme or black edition adn a good 120mm fan

can i also suggest a 3450 GPU if you are planning on keeping the 17" monitors so you can have a 3 screen setup if your interested in multi-monitor setups

the e8400 is also a good alternative CPU, faster in most games, but slower in encoding and multi-core applications

that 3450 is for the 2 17" if you still want to use them alongside your 24" and will be replaced by your 2nd 4870 when you get crossfire. only get the as well if you want to try using 3 monitors

Hmm actually it also might be worth a bit more money for a Q9550 as it is a 45nm CPU and will overclock better/work at a lower temperature with the CPU cooler you have selected...

for gamming and watching HD movies etc, i would recommend going the high clocked core 2 route e8*** rather than a quad.

and if your going to get a 24" monitor + try and streach that budget and get the 1gig version of the 4870 even a 1gig 4850 would be great..

:)

thank 95thrifles, think iam gonna stick with a quad, gonna try and trim budget of else where. in the meantime i think iam gonna hook it up with my 26" LCD TV. lol

id change the cpu to a standard Q6600 or E8400/E8500 and like above said get the 1gb version of the 4870 (1920x1200 rez in the way gaming wise and playing 1080p). maybe a modular psu keep that HAF efficient, other than that spot on mate :)
