I'm thinking of building my next PC, possibly in the new year if/when the new nvidia cards bring down the price of the 5870 (if they're ever actually in stock).
It'll mainly be for gaming and Creative Suite.

How does this sound?
I may add in more ram at a later date if Photoshop appears to need it...

:) Yeah I realise the case may be a bit overkill but I'm basically aiming to make it as easy as possible as it's my first time.

I'm certainly not averse to cheaper options either if anyone wants to suggest stuff – my last pc (p4 3ghz) has lasted me for 5 years and I really just want to build something that can last as long and run pretty much everything during that time.

What benefits are there if I go with x58? I know I could get an i7 920 and asus p6t for about the same price (probably go for 6gb of ram though if I did). Aside from being able to overclock the 920 easily and upgrade to i9 in the future should I wish, is there anything else preferable for x58 over p55? I've read a lot and everyone seems to have a different opinion!
