01. GPU - Just pick a random one for now, waiting for some 8800GT 256MB to appear, whats there price range?
02. Case - Anyone recommend a different one? under £100, was an Antec900 but they say they are dust magnets.
03. DVD - Just a cheap SATA one
04. HD - Anyone recommend a different one? in the 160GB or 250GB - the best, most reliable etc.
05. CPU - Either E6750 or Q6600 to furture proof
06. RAM - Anyone recommend a different one? was recommended this one, but its pretty cheap, could go to under £100.
07. HEATSINK - Just went for the best of the best atm, no problems of overheating. Does it fit the case?
08. FAN - I think these are the best of the best. Anyone recommend a different one? - which has the best noise to airflow ratio?
09. PSU - Was recommended this one. Is it enough to power everything? How much power do I have left over approx?
10. MOBO - Anyone recommend a different one? approx £100 to spend.

Not planning to overclock if I do it probably wont be for a year.
This build is to replace my AMD 1.2 Athlon, GeForce6200
So leaving build stock will blow me away, OC'ing will just kill me.
Main use for build just average internet use, and like to start gaming COD4, Cyrsis, A.Creed etc.
Only 19" non-wide max res of 1280 x 1024, cause of the res could I go for a cheaper GPU eg.8600GT?
£705 That a good price for the lot?

sorry for all the questions

  1. I'd hold out for a 512 MiB version. Think around £180 inc. tax.
  2. The 182 is a very good case. It's easy to work inside and is pretty quiet.
  3. Sounds good. THey all preform just about the same so get what's cheap
  4. Seagate 7200.10 250 GB is faster. It's what I'd get
  5. I'd get the quad, though if the budget is squeezing you and you're not overclocking I'd get the E6750. If overclocking the E2180 is the budget choice since they 'clock like mad.
  6. Just get the cheapest PC2-6400C4 available at the time of purchase. Right now on OcUK it's some OCZ.
  7. That would fit the case but it's a bit expensive, especially when you count the 120mm fan required but not included. If you're looking to save some money you could see if you can snag a deal on a Tuniq tower (OcUK's price is sky high on that right now though). You could also look at the Noctua or Scythe Ninja.
  8. They are nice, but not worth the money IMO. How about some dirt cheap Yate Loon D12SL-12s? They're dead silent at 7V.
  9. Excellent PSU
  10. Excellent mobo, though there have been some defect concerns. I wouldn't be worried.
This is going to blow you away. :D

This is what I have in my machine right now. Except my case is a P180B (practically the same as the P182) and my 8800GT is an Inno3D. My Q6600 is overclocked to 3.2ghz @ 59 degrees on the highest core, running prime95 small FFT's. My graphics card is overclocked to 670mhz/1750mhz/950mhz.

This setup scored me ~ 13,900 3D Mark 06 on Vista 32bit.

You can always save yourself a £30 by dropping the soundcard, and if you are running Windows XP then possibly saving yourself another £40 by losing 2gb of ram. :)
