Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster !

I'm looking to do my first build and in need of some help.

Its going to be used for browsing/movies/gaming (all different types) and audio. I'm not really clued up on whats what but from what I gather is an Intel build is the way to go. I am also interested in overclocking and want to give that a go.

I'm getting into audio recently and was wondering whether a soundcard should be included in the build or to get an external DAC ?

2TB or more for storage and an SSD for OS are required.

I dont need a keyboard/mouse/monitor/optical drive/OS

Budget is £850 BUT there is a possibility that I can order it through my friends company so it would be excluded from VAT which would make the budget go abit further eg. Intel i5-4670k £154.99 instead of £185.99.

I don't know whether or not this would make enough room for better products and still be within in the budget.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you can get it VAT free, you could get better components.. So go for it. :)

When you say "getting into audio", what do you mean by that exactly?

As a listening experience , really enjoying high quality music lately so I was wondering would a good soundcard with speakers connected (will get these later) or something external be more suitable.

Looks good to me :) I wrote a lot in the opening post I should have summed it up but I don't need DVD drive or OS.

One thing I noticed is there is no cooler in the basket , I thought I would need one since I'm overclocking as much as I can ?

Eagle eyed.. :)

Luckily im one step ahead of you, the motherboard comes with a free cooler, check the product page. :)

Though considering you are not needing an OS we could add a top-end cooler?

Ya you could take out the OS and the DVD drive and use that towards other stuff, says the cooler is out of stock so even if I could take a different one instead and pay difference ya know? That would be handier.

EDIT : Also looks like theres no RAM or am i blind ? lol

Since the motherboard is blue and the GFX card is black and somewhat blue , I was gonna try keep as much blue as I can.

Can anyone suggest RAM thats blue and I wont have any issues with fitting ?

Thanks

Depends on the fan thickness, the above is a standard width fan on a Z77 board.

Thanks for the quick reply, would I be right in saying the RAM in the above picture is the same dimensions as Patriot Viper Sapphire linked further up?

Im going with the D3HP motherboard with a Thermalright HR-02 Macho or else a Prolimatech Megahalems Blue.

Can anyone link me to some Blue ram that will fit? Or point me in the right direction
