So basically I've got a bit of money to spend and I've always wanted a top end gaming pc (been on "gaming" laptops all my life that can barely push 60 @ 1080p). This will be my first time ever building my own pc.

Put this build together for the 4090 with 4k gaming in mind. I want this PC to be at least somewhat future proof so I don't mind it being a bit pricey. Let me know if I've done anything stupid like parts not going well together or if I'm wasting money on components like the motherboard, cooler etc. I'm already kind of over budget so let me know if I can think about downgrading anything. I want this build to last me at least 5 years or so however, so keep in mind when suggesting things to downgrade. Some people on reddit are suggesting a cheaper fan cooler over the water cooler.

************ Part List: https://uk.************.com/list/LhbtpB

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Deepcool LS720 85.85 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

Video Card: *PNY XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card
Case: Lian Li LANCOOL III RGB ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000e (2023) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11
Total: £2793.80

Also please let me know if I will need to buy anything extra like cables or things I'm not even thinking of.

Thanks for your time.

The Peerless Assassin is a cheaper cooler and you could swap the case for the Mesh C, but it is just tinkering around the edges really. I assume the RM1000e is the newer version with the bundled 12/16 pin?

Just having a look at the product info - is this what you mean?

PCIe 12+4-Pin 12VHPWR Connectors:

Yeah, but you didn't need to check because it says 2023 in the description and I didn't notice, oops.

There's a review here, if you haven't seen it:

I like that build I just think that you can’t really say future proof with PC hardware because there will always be new tech coming out in 6 to 12 months.

4K gaming would work with that parts list, I just think 1440P gaming is probably fine for 90% of gamers and costs a lot less.

Don’t get me wrong, the 4090 is a great GPU, it’s just expensive.

I did a rough price check on the other components and apart from the fact that I don’t like Gigabyte motherboards and I’d personally get a cheaper chassis, nothing else stood out to me.

I agree with @Tetras here on both air cooler and case. That would save you in the region of £150.

For a further saving, if you are willing to forgo PCIE 5 M.2 slot, the MSI Tomahawk comes with WiFi and is £70 cheaper.

Additionally, if you buy a Windows key for about £20, you should wind up bang about £2500.

Btw, in answer to your question on cabling, you need to check that the PSU comes with a power cable (old kettle style or a repurposed monitor one) and that you may probably want to get some thermal paste. Artic MX4 should do you fine.

Before paying so much for a graphics card, I would think about whether I'd really see the benefit. Have I seen 4k and compared it to 1440p and perceived a difference I want to pay for.
