Heya Folks,

I have been browsing these forums daily over the past few months however I have yet to post anything. Firstly I must say it’s a brilliant forum with a lot of helpful topics and people to say the least!

The reason I have posted this topic is to get a bit of help, I am going to be building my first rig…its something I have always wanted to do however I never thought I could. So I think its time to take the plunge and get building myself a rig, this however won’t happen until after Christmas as I have far to much to buy already.

I have put together some components below, before I confirm things I was wondering if someone would kindly go through it and see if it would fit together, rather than me buying stuff and then finding out something isn’t compatible.

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 800D
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair IV Extreme AMD 890FX
Processor: AMD CPU Phenom II 1090T Black Edition
Memory: Corsair 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR3 1866MHz Dominator GT DHX+ (9-9-9-24) - (Two sets totaling 8GB)
Graphics Card: Asus HD 5870 AMD/ATI Graphics Card 1GB, PCi-E 2.0, 4800MHz GDDR5, GPU 850MHz 1600 Cores
Power Supply: Coolermaster RS-850-AMBA Silent Pro M 850W Modular Power Supply
Hard Drive: 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4 Hard Drive
Optical Drive: Samsung Blu-Ray Combo, SH-B123/RSBP 12x BD-ROM & DVDRW Combo Player
Sound Card: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Soundcard PCi-E
CPU Heatsink: Scythe Ninja 3
Operating System: Windows 7 64bit

I will also be braiding all the cables and sorting out the cable management for better air flow, I am going to take my time and may be on here a lot asking stupid questions, but if I am going to do it I want to do it properly.

Any changes, comments (negative or positive) and help is much appreciated.

The main purpose will be gaming, however I will also use it for work, photoshop and watching movies.

I have a budget of around £2000 however that must include all of my peripherals aswell. I could possible stretch to around £2500 at a push.

What is your work, and how intensive is your photoshop use? :p

i7 would be good if you do programming / a ton of rendering with photoshop, if not i5 is the way to go.

My work is mainly office based so not to much to worry about. Photoshop is used a bit, but not huge rendering or anything, just to pass the time.

I'd also like to stick with AMD if I am honest, not sure if that makes a huge difference or not?
