These are the air coolers i found on Overclockers store.

Which would you recommend for overall best cooling. I will be using the RYZEN 7 3700X EIGHT CORE 4.4GHZ (SOCKET AM4) PROCESSOR.

PROLIMATECH GENESIS "DUAL SILENT WINGS 3 PWM HIGH SPEED EDITION" £97.91
DARK ROCK PRO 4 CPU COOLER £84.95
NH-U12A HIGH PERFORMANCE CPU COOLER - 120MM £89.99
DARK ROCK TF CPU COOLER - 135/135MM £76.99
Cryorig R1 Ultimate Dual Tower CPU Heatsink with 2x 140mm Fan - Black £73.99
NH-D15S DUAL RADIATOR QUIET CPU COOLER £74.99
PROLIMATECH MEGAHALEMS REV.C "APACHE EDITION £71.98
Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 CPU Cooler £82.99

Noctua are without a doubt the best and most regarded air coolers on the market. I cannot post links to competitor websites but I am sure that having a look around you will see the ratings on them. They are as good as an AIO out of the box. I have the NH-D15S, it's designed to allow you to have high profile ram whilst giving you similar results as the D15.

The NH-U12A is the new offering from Noctua that supposedly gives you the cooling power of the D15 series but in a 120mm form factor. I have heard and watched nothing but great things about it.

If you like me you find the NH-D15/S brown fans ugly here is the bling for them https://www.overclockers.co.uk/noctua-nf-a15-pwm-chromax-premium-grade-fan-140mm-fg-06m-nc.html

The height of your case, the height and location of your ram, and the location of any expansion cards including your graphics card can all impact on whether a particular cooler will fit, so it's not just a case of picking a cooler from a list you'll need to identify the dimensions you have to work within which may narrow down your options.

Edit/ Additionally the layout of the new Ryzen CPUs with their chiplets off centre is something that may potentially affect the cooling potential of some of these coolers, not much testing has been done to prove or disprove whether this is an issue but bare in mind that any reviews of these coolers are unlikely to have been done on a ryzen 3000 series chip. So if you find a cooler that you like it would be worth asking around to see if anyone has any personal experience of how it performs with a 3700X.

This is all very good advice, Noctua compatibility checker here. https://noctua.at/en/support/compatibility-lists

I know that the NH-D15 needs 160mm clearance from board to side panel, its a beast. The new NH-U12A looks very promising, very compatible with its reduced dimensions.

Thank you PieEater and Jason Rage for the reply. I will check the link and search around abit on the web to try check for compatibility on some of the components i am looking at thanks.

May I suggest you pick a case first? One that has good airflow potential (one that can use 2x140mm front fans) and has 170mm or more CPU clearance. Select fan that is not too tall (less than 35mm tall), and a motherboard with more than 76mm center CPU to near side of x16 PCIe socket (one used for GPU). You need a case that flows more air than the amount of air used by CPU and GPU coolers. This is at least 2x good 140mm fans. Also a lot of stock case fans are not much good, in the wrong vents, or not enough fans included.

The best CPU cooler available both cost and performance is TRUE Spirit 140 Power. It costs about fifty quid and runs as quiet and as cool as NH-D15.

Thank you doyll for the reply. I am still looking at the PC cases but i will try check the Airflow / clearance and compatibility for all the components thanks.

One case which was recommended to me was the Corsair Obsidian 750D Airflow Full Tower Case - Black (CC-9011078-WW) £144.95

I try to balance aesthetics with performance. So whilst not the best looking cases imho the Coolmaster H500P Mesh and H500 Mesh are chart toppers where airflow is concerned.

This is the more expensive H500M that I do think looks good with both side panels being glass

Lastly for you a review from GamersNexus focusing on airflow and temps. The review is for the more expensive 500M but as the 3 cases are so similar where airflow is concerned I will not bore you with all 3 reviews for them!

An important note, do no not buy the H500P non mesh as its an inferno with a closed front panel!

Why do I have no knowledge of this cooler?! I'll do some research on it as its nice that it does not come with dam brown fans!! Gota ask though, does it come with the premium unboxing experience of a Noctua? Hell, I would pay £30 just for that!

Sorry, no fancy boxing. Also not as easy to find.
Not as many reviews either, but we tested TRUE Spirit 140 Power against NH-D14, and NH-D14 with same fans as NH-D15 has near idential if not slightly better perfromance than D-15.

Long thread with all kinds of test results with links to review sites in link below. Be sure to read the 1st post all the way to end. :https://www.overclock.net/forum/246...right-true-spirit-140-power.html#post22030415
