First time gamer, do most use arrow keys?

I use an orbweaver and couldn't go back to using a keyboard. I use the dpad for movements then map the other buttons up for everything else.

WASD all the way, just feels more natural.

Also as mentioned, you have access to more keys more easily.

Well being a CSS player although I too started on Doom and quake 1 I am stuck in my ways now after 10 years of half life

WASD movement
Q previous weapon
E Action
Shift walk
Ctrl Crouch
Space jump
Alt is PTT in game

I have a variety of buy binds and other stuff.

Mouse is mwheel up jump mwheel down jump
left click shoot right click scope/iron sight in other games
Mouse 4 is PTT in teamspeak
Mouse 5 is crouch (found it easier for crouch jumping onto boxes.)

I've never used lean but that comes from quick peaking in css

Perhaps he is like a guy I used to play Q3 with back in the day who had his settings rigged to allow him to use mouse to look around, RMB was forwards and LMB was shoot.

He didn't use strafe, he just looked in the direction he wanted to go and ran. lol

I'd advise you go with the usual WASD. It becomes easy real quick, even for a none gamer or console gamer.

I used to run with LMB shoot and RMB move forward back in my CS days but I still used ASD to strafe and move backwards.

I guess if you don't strafe that's fair, personally annoys me in games that you can't!
