Hi,

I've decided to start playing guitar. Have decided on a yamaha pacifica 112 guitar as it seems to be the best beginners model going. I can't decide on an amp though. I have a budget of £100 but if there's a good one going a bit above, then I'd stretch. I'm getting the guitar online from soundcontrol, so if you can find it there that would be a bonus. Many thanks!

Steve

I'd suggest this.

I know some people in the know will immediately go 'Line 6 spider? NOO' but to be honest it's £114, and will give you a very wide range of tones available.

It's a modelling amp, so there'll be a bit more button-turning and pushing than you'd be used to with a normal beginners amp, but it'll also give you a little intro into guitar effects too which you could find very useful :)

Biggest plus is the versitility to be honest, I don't know what music you're particularly hoping to play on the guitar as a first goal, but that amplifier should get you a sound closer to it.

Havn't heard how it sounds but for what its offering at the price, doesn't sound like you can go wrong with the above. I think getting into the guitar is half about experiementing with effects. Reverb will make you think you are a rock stadium god as well in comparrison to without :D
