Hi guys I've spent some time reading these forums and have decided to try and build my first PC.

I've been using a mac for a while but am looking to build a decent gaming rig for around the £650 mark. As im tired of playing TF2 on lowish settings and still struggling to get above 20fps when theres lots happening on screen.

So far the parts ive picked out are:

CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 810 2.6GHz, which I may overclock
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3
Ram- Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
Power supply- Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant
GPU- XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 XT 1024MB
Case- Antec 902
HDD- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound.
OS- Windows xp(which i alread have) till windows 7 come out
dvd drive- Phillips dvd dual layer burner

I think that all these parts are compatable with each other, but am still looking for advise just incase. So if anyone one with experiance of building rigs could give them a quick look, i'd appriacite it.

Is there anything that you think should be changed out? Or any basic mistakes that i've made? Or any advice that you can offer to a first time builder.

Cheers everyone

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, on you guys advise i'm going to switch the cpu to the AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz and will switch out the ram to OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel.

For the monitor i've picked the Samsung SM2333SW 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor which looks good for the price.

I should be ordering the parts in the next few days and will hopefully have the weekend to put it all together, I'll post and let you guys know how everything went.

Thanks a lot for your help.
